Singing Lessons
I started singing seriously since I was 13 years old and studied voice since 1975. During my studies at U.B.C., I have sung solos and participated as a tenor in the U.B.C. Singers under the direction of James Fankhauser. I was also a part of the Early Music Society and sung Solos at several performances. While studying for my Master Degree of Music at New Mexico State University, I have sung several solos in the opera and in the NMSU Singers. As well as directing choirs in NM and Texas, I have sung in Mastworks Concerts and Faculty Benefit Concert as a soloist.
I teach what is proven tried and true; the classical vocal technique using the Royal Conservatory Method and Grading Assessment System.
| Guitar Lessons
I have been played the guitar since I was 10 years old and studied classical guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Calgary, Alberta (1975-76) and the University of British Columbia (1983-1986). Since 1987, I have taught guitar lessons at Colleges, Universities and private.
I teach two methods: the classical approach and the acoustic folk guitar method. Both styles involve chords, rhythms, finger-picking styles with the classical approach being more complete. The lessons also include reading music in conventional notation, tablature and chord charts. I strongly believe that if a beginning student learns the classical technique, they will succeed in all other styles of playing the guitar including rock.
